Choosing To Have A Mate Or Being Single

Source: DailyOM

The way we choose to love can be as unique as the way we choose to make a living, maintain our health, or entertain ourselves. Some choose to seek out a mate and enter into a partnership with a special individual, while others find immense satisfaction in staying single. There is no right or wrong way to be in your life when it comes to deciding whether or not to be in a relationship, even though society tends to put an emphasis on romantic partnerships. Whether you choose to go through life as part of a romantic relationship or live as a single unit, there are benefits to both. Feel free to be comfortable with whatever choice is right for you.

It’s in Giving That We Receive

“It’s in giving that we receive.”
-Prayer of St. Francis, 13th century saint

“When you give, You begin to live, You get the world.”
-“You Might Die Trying” Dave Matthews Band, 21st century musical group

I have what some people might call “issues” around money. I grew up in a fairly middle class family, the daughter of a Southern Baptist preacher who apparently did pretty well for himself. We always had nice houses, nice clothes, nice toys – all the amenities of the American middle class.

Advocates Cite New Challenges to Civil Rights Leader’s Social Justice Vision

By civilrights.org staff January 13, 2006

What would Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. have made of the dramatic images of tens of thousands of poor families abandoned at the Superdome and in the Convention Center in New Orleans, and of thousands of families stranded on Interstate-10 without food or water?

How would he have responded to a ballot initiative that would end affirmative action initiatives in higher education, employment, and contracting in the name of a “colorblind” society?

What would he say to those who claim that what is widely viewed as the most successful civil rights law ever functions now as punishment for the South’s past crimes? >>More

$20

January 14, 2006

Sometimes we just need to be reminded!

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, “Who would like this $20 bill?” Hands started going up.

“I am going to give this $20 to one of you, but first let me do this. He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, “Who still wants it?” Still the hands were up in the air. Well, he replied, “What if I do this?” And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. “Now, who still wants it?” Still the hands went into the air.

My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20.

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE and WHOSE WE ARE. You are special- Don’t EVER forget it.”

If you do not pass this on, you may never know the lives it touches, the hurting hearts it speaks to, or the hope that it can bring. Count your blessings, not your problems.”And remember:

amateurs built the ark ..
professionals built the Titanic.

If God brings you to it – He will bring you through it.

This was sent to me by a friend, Thank you!
